Greenwood SC is known as the Emerald City for its abundance of gorgeous flowers and green landscapes and is home to one of the largest gardening and seed companies in the world, Park Seed Corporation, making this Festival of Flowers event a truly spectacular display of colors!
During the second weekend of July, Greenwood SC hosts the Festival of Discovery sponsored by the Uptown Greenwood Development Corporation. The weekend is filled with food, fun, live music and much, much more as visitors can learn more about Greenwood’s history and traditions. In addition to the
unique arts and crafts and other festival fun, the Festival of Discovery also features the South Carolina State Championship cook-off,
where the best BBQ teams from around the state
come to compete each year.
Ware Shoals, a historic community located in
both Abbeville and Greenwood counties, hosts the
Ware Shoals Catfish Festival each year during
Memorial Day weekend. This event brings
thousands and thousands of visitors to Ware
Shoals year after year. In 2007 over 21,000
people attended the two day event featuring live
entertainment, arts and crafts, fantastic food,
and children's programs.
 In October you can check out some great live music at the Greenwood Music Festival, this year called O.N.E. 2008.
This event brings together talented young bands and artists in the region for a wonderful, family friendly
festival. The Greenwood Music Festival is great for teens as it is sponsored by
the teen outreach organization Homemade Genius, which brings youth together through leadership and educational opportunities in music and the arts.
